A memorial graveside service honoring the beloved Elaine M. Johnson will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Fairview Cemetery 200 Whitman Ave. in West Hartford, officiated by the Reverend Dr. John Afman. Elaine E. Johnson, 80, of West Hartford, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Elaine was born on January 4, 1943, in Hartford, CT to the late Robert C. and Marion (Livingston) Johnson. Elaine spent most of her life in Hartford’s South End before her health led her to reside at Saint Mary Home in West Hartford for her final seven years. Elaine was baptized and confirmed at South Congregational Church in Hartford, and she was very proud of her 64-year membership there. Elaine was very artistic and worked briefly designing floral arrangements at the former Aetna Florist Shop on Wethersfield Avenue. She was also employed for a short time by the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Her exceptionally beautiful handwriting was on display for every birthday and special occasion, when she never failed to send a greeting card. Elaine liked music and watching old black and white classic movies. She took ballet lessons as a child and continued to follow ballet programs on PBS when available. Her favorite television passion was Jeopardy, which she watched faithfully every night. She enjoyed many summers with her family vacationing in Cape Cod and many happy times visiting with relatives at Amston Lake, CT. She frequently traveled to New York City, where she attended Broadway shows.

Besides her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her brother Bobby Johnson and her sisters Beverly Diamond and Shirley Johnson. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law Frank Diamond and her niece Susan Diamond. Elaine leaves behind nephews Leonard Diamond of Rocky Hill, Robert T. Diamond of Marlborough, Edward Diamond of North Haven, and niece Kathy Watras and her husband Thomas of East Granby. She also leaves behind several grand nieces and nephews: Kristina Diamond, Robert E. Diamond, Kimberly Diamond, Thomas Watras and his wife Alicia, and Brian Watras.
