The Apostle Peter writes, “…if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.” (1 Peter 3:15)
We call our Bible Study “Experiencing God!” because while we will always study God’s Word, we also Experience God! through a variety of other mediums such as: movies, art, and book studies. Therefore we look into anything that helps us grow in our faith as well as prepares us to “always be ready to explain our Christian hope.”
Join us on Wednesdays from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Bryant Room. No previous experience is necessary.
Charles Spurgeon Society
The Charles Spurgeon Society is a men’s small group named after Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92). Reverend Spurgeon is known as the “Prince of Preacher’s” and his Morning/Evening Devotional is a Christian classic. He was also an avid cigar lover and, as such, we meet at the Tobacco Shop, 89 Pratt Street, Hartford, on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. We pray together, discuss his devotions for the day as well as enjoy fellowship and fine cigars. Smoking is not a requirement.
Men At Work
“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
Men at South Church take seriously God’s call to grow in our faith. That is what “Men At Work” works at on the second Saturday of every month. We meet at 8:30 am at a local diner for breakfast and enjoy fellowship, prayer, discussion, and anything else that helps us work on growing in our faith. Join us!
If you are new at Scrapbooking and don’t know where to start our knowledgeable scrappers can help. We can help you choose the right scrapbook and supplies and help you learn to sort your photos and memorabilia. We even have space to store your projects so you won’t have to cart them back and forth. If you are a crafter this may be your small group. We do Scrapbooking but also Paper crafting, card making, etc.
We meet at least every Tuesday but you’ll often find us here more often. Feel free to bring your own project with you and use our large tables, tools, and supplies. We have cutters, punches, stamps, etc. or, we have plenty of things for you to do. From novice to expert all are welcome! (We are mostly ladies but gentlemen are certainly welcome as well.)
Sewing Smiles meets on the 1st Saturday of every month from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Elmore Room. If you are a sewer, we can put you right to work. If you are a non-sewer we can either teach you or we have plenty of other jobs you can do. Sewing Smiles primarily supports our Haiti Mission by making dresses for girls, dolls for all children, pants for boys, skirts for ladies, drawstring bags for families and pencil cases for school supplies. Everyone is invited, come for the morning, afternoon, or all day! (Men are also welcome.)
South Church Women
SCW meets every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. We bring our own bag lunches, eat together and enjoy some fellowship time. After lunch, we work on crafts, some are brought from home, some are used in the various missions of the church and some are made to sell as fundraisers. Participating in the crafts is not required. You are welcome to just come for the fellowship. SCW is open to women from 18 to 118 years old.
